Goldust Wishes Cody Rhodes Was Still With AEW

But he could never become anything more than a mid card in WWE. In 2016 he left WWE and joined the independent circuit. After leaving WWE he worked in multiple professional wrestling promotions like Ring of Honor and Impact Wrestling. He also worked in Japan. In 2018 he was present during the formation of the All Elite Wrestling.

He started working in the AEW regularly and here he was also treated as a mid card talent. He had been a three times AEW TNT champion, it was the mid card title of this promotion. But in early 2021, he decided to leave AEW. It was a big shocker. Nobody ever expected that he would ever leave AEW.

At WrestleMania 38 he made his return to WWE in an amazing style. He directly made his debut against the former four times WWE world champion Seth Rollins and defeated him. He defeated him again in a series of matches which clearly indicated towards a main event push for the former three times WWE Intercontinental Champion.

But soon he picked up a big injury which sideline him for months. The injury not only damaged WWE’s plans around him but also killed his push for the time. It is believed that he will be making his return soon to dethrone the Tribal Chief Roman Reigns. Surely WWE has brought him back for a main event push.

Goldust who is also a three times WWE Tag Team Champion recently spoke on Talk Is Jericho where he talked about his brother Cody Rhodes leaving AEW to join WWE and lamented that he wished his brother was still in AEW. He said;

“Kind of down a little bit, but you know, Cody is still young. I mean, there’s such an age gap, 16 years, so he’s kind of in his prime now. But watching him return at WrestleMania was just huge, and you know, I’m not going to miss any of his stuff. He’s on the rise to become a champion.

“I really think he’s set the tone for that in his last eight years of work and things that he’s done that he’s built up. He’s very professional. He’s very different than I am. We’re two completely opposite people. I mean, he has that creative mind like my dad had. I’m more the grunt, the worker, in the family, but he is surpassing everything. He’s doing amazing. It’s great, but yeah, I wish he was still here.”
