WWE SmackDown star and the current WWE Intercontinental Champion Gunther who is also a former WWE NXT UK champion recently talked about forming the Imperium faction on the main roster upon his debut and how it was a big thing while he was on the NXT UK.
The Imperium was formed back in 2019 at the NXT UK. All the three members of the faction right now were the founding members of it. They had another member during their NXT run and it was Alexander Wolfe. But later, Wolfe got released from WWE and his spot remained vacant since then.

Gunther Discusses Reforming His Imperium Faction
When Gunther made he is main roster debut last year on Friday Night Smackdown, the Imperium was no longer in work. Ludwig Kaiser also made his debut along with him and he used to work as the manager of him on the main roster. Together they were not addressed as the Imperium. All the focus was on the Ring General of course.
Later, after Triple H became the Head of Creative of WWE, he decided to reunite the Imperium. He brought Giovanni Vinci on to the main roster and Imperium was back in business once again. The focus always remained on the Austrian professional wrestler who had been undefeated on the main roster for quite awhile. Surely he has an amazing future lying ahead of himself.

Gunther who is also a former WWE NXT UK champion recently spoke to After The Bell with Corey Graves where he talked about forming the Imperium faction on the main roster upon his debut and how it was a big thing while he was on the NXT UK. He said;
“Obviously, it’s great that we are all together. That was the plan for a long time anyway, especially for Giovanni, it was hard because when we went to SmackDown, it was just like losing an eye at first. We got split up and it came out of nowhere.

“That was very hard, especially for Giovanni, but also for Ludwig because they always planned to be a team and now everything changed. I think looking back now, it was a good experience for everybody involved because now we can work, travel, and do all those experiences with my two closest real friends as well.
“Ludwig, I’ve known since I started wrestling, like he started a year or two later, and since then we’ve always been together at events. We lived in almost the same part of Germany, so we traveled together almost every weekend. We’ve been doing this side by side for over a decade now. So yeah, obviously being with him means a lot now.”
