There was a time when WWE objectified women as a cheap money making strategy. Vince McMahon did not even let go of her own daughter out of this. There were storylines that made fans call her ‘wh**e’ and we all know about the plan for the storyline in which Vince McMahon would have been revealed as the father of Stephanie McMahon’s child.

Stephanie did not agree to do the feud but it actually showed the mentality of WWE back then. And now, the same company is fighting for women’s rights both in and outside of WWE. Performers like Trish Stratus, Torrie Wilson, Lita, Sunny, Victoria have been treated like a sex toy once. Imagine how much appreciation they could receive if they were current generation wrestlers.

This may look like a huge piece of hypocrisy but Stephanie McMahon should be given most of the credits for this change. It was Stephanie McMahon who transformed Divas into Wrestlers. Of course, there are some unsung heroes as well.

Former WWE 24/7 Champion Maria Kanellis recently took on Stephanie McMahon’s works and contributions for Women’s rights. Stephanie McMahon is fighting’s for the women’s rights not only in WWE but in everything. During her recent meeting with the Kawada Driver, she said;

“If I had that much power there would be a whole show, plus a reality show that covers the actual girls lives. Plus on top of that we would have a make-up line, we would be on the cover of Vogue showing that these women are badasses and they’re beautiful in their own right. I don’t get it. I’m fighting for that in Ring of Honor now…from the very beginning that’s what I want.

“I want my girls to have those opportunities that I didn’t have in such a large company like WWE. You’re telling me that they can’t call up some of these magazines and say, “Hey can you feature some of our girls? If you do you can work with this advertiser we also have?” I don’t get it.”

There are rumors of WWE planning for a separated brand for ladies only with at least three different championships. There are also rumors that if this happens, WWE will unify the Raw and Smackdown Women’s title, keep the Tag Team titles and bring a new mid card title too. But these are still rumors, but it would be amazing if it actually happens.
