WWE SmackDown is currently facing the issue of the weakest roster depth in WWE history. We cannot say the depth of the roster of Monday Night RAW but it is far better than the situation of the Friday night show of WWE right now.
During the covid-19 pandemic WWE was forced to release a lot of wrestlers since they had to go for a budget cut. Some of the biggest names of the promotion had to be removed because of this budget cut. Over 70 wrestlers have already departed and gone elsewhere.
How WWE Can Fix The Roster Issue Of Smackdown – Analysis
Some of the biggest names of the promotions including the likes of Braun Strowman and Bray Wyatt were also released from the WWE. But the promotion could not replace these guys yet. As a result WWE is currently facing the issue of the biggest roster depth ever. They definitely have a lot of restless on their rosters, but most of them are either jobbers or mid cards.
The death of the roster of Monday Night RAW is still manageable. But the situation of Smackdown is really bad. About the men’s roster, recently they lost Brock Lesnar to RAW, after that, the blue brand of WWE does not have any name except Drew McIntyre who can be a worthy opponent of Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship.
The situation of the female roster of WWE is even weaker. There are currently 8 women on the roster of the blue brand only. Among them, it is being reported that Sasha Banks picked up an injury during the house show. You cannot run a means show with only seven female wrestlers.
Toni storm was involved in a Championship feud with Charlotte Flair who has also been released recently. After the injury reports of Sasha Banks are coming, the only wrestler that remains to feud for the women’s title is Naomi. Rest are mostly jobbers and not ready yet for title picture.
Now the big question is, how WWE can resolve this issue? Right now it is not possible to sign the wrestlers that WWE has released already. However some of them are quite possible to be brought back. Alexa bliss is coming back to Monday Night RAW. It would be better if she switches to the Friday night show.
One more thing WWE can do right now to solve this issue is to promote some of the talents from the NXT onto the main roster. The best possible option right now is Tommaso Ciampa who just lost the NXT Championship to Bron Breakker. There are other names who could be brought to the main roster as well. We hope to see this issues get fixed soon.
