WWE News: Incredible Alternate Finish Planned For Hell In A Cell Main Event 1

The main event of Hell in a Cell featured Seth Rollins defending his Universal Championship against The Fiend Bray Wyatt. It was a fresh lineup for the fans who were hoping to witness a solid match and perhaps a new champion by the end of the night. But the match eventually ended in a disqualification (for the first time in history a Hell in a Cell match had DQ-end which later converted into a referee stoppage) making the fans angry.

Reason Why The Fiend Didn’t Win Universal Title At Hell In A Cell

They did not buy that lame finish that was considered to be a stupid one. Plus, the fact that Seth Rollins was still the champion made them furious. Some reports mentioned this edition of Hell in a Cell to be the worst-ever in the history of the event. WWE even protected Bray Wyatt and Seth Rollins by keeping them off Monday Night Raw, the very next night. New reports are now available suggesting that Vince McMahon had an alternate finish planned for the title match.

Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com is reporting that the original plan was to call off the match via referee’s decision. But it would have been looked legit, at least. The fans would not be outrageous after the referee stopped the match for Seth Rollins using a Sledgehammer on Bray Wyatt. Here’s more to the alternative angle,

“The original idea for the finish was that Wyatt would take a gimmicked bump off the top of the cage and be unable to continue and the match would be stopped,” Meltzer said.” Then, after it was stopped, he would pop up like Undertaker and take Rollins out with the mandible claw.”

In reality, the finishing segment of Hell in a Cell main event witnessed Seth Rollins burying ‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt under a ladder, chairs and even a toolbox. It was then when Rollins introduced the Sledgehammer causing a referee stoppage to the matchup. Following that, the fans in the crowd started chanting “AEW” and “Refunds.”

Seth Rollins remained silent on the issue since the match passed by except for posting a cryptic message on Twitter. It states the following,

“Survive and Prevail is bigger than just what happens between the ropes. Question everything, even yourself, and fight your heart out every step of the way. #sethrollinsisnotcool”
