Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville faced each other at SummerSlam 2020 pay-per-view. Their encounter was supposed to be a Hair vs Hair match as per the challenged laid down by one of them where the loser would have to shave her head following the contest. But then those plans changed starting from the go-home PPV episode on SmackDown, this past Friday Night.
It was noted how Sonya Deville was sick of seeing her former buddy Mandy Rose’s face and shaving her hair won’t solve the problem. So she proposed a No-DQ contest where the Loser Leaves WWE. In the end, it was herself who ended up losing the match and thus won’t now be seen anymore on WWE programming. She also said goodbye to the WWE Universe on Twitter.
Is Sonya Deville Legit Fired By WWE After Summerslam 2020 Loss?
Ringside News exclusively reported about the Hair vs Hair Match being on the table. It was later booked, but future circumstances seemed to have changed that capacity.
Rose and Deville drew attention when Mandy was in Sonya Deville’s house when a kidnapper invaded a property and actually tried to abduct Sonya. He was also after Rose to decapitate her. This caused in a really scary situation before the police reached the spot and took the victim into custody. During the next episode of SmackDown, the stipulation for their match was changed.
It was noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE could have chosen a ton of other gimmick matches if they didn’t want to shave Mandy Rose or Sonya Deville’s head. But they later wanted a match that will remove one of them from the company.
It was stated by the source, that it’s unlikely Deville said “forget WWE” and decided to get out of the business after the kidnapping situation occurred. It is incredibly unlikely she is actually leaving the company. Rather they could turn this into a new angle, moving forward.
This has not been confirmed, but an online theory was mentioned where it was heard that Sonya Deville didn’t want to go to court for hearing for the kidnapping case with a shaved head. That might have done some damage to her case against that victim named Philip Thomas who tried to hold her hostage.
The reason behind letting Deville lose and leaving the WWE is still 100% not clear, but SummerSlam did show the angle and created a kayfabe scene where Daddy Deville was done. But it seems there’s more to the story as she’d find a way to return, really quick.
