Professional wrestling legend and WWE Hall of Famer Jeff Jarrett who is also a former four times WCW World Heavyweight champion recently looked back at the main event push of Samoa Joe and also revealed if he was being held back by Vince Russo.
Samoa Joe was one of the biggest prospects of TNA wrestling who joined the promotion back in 2005 and from the very first day of joining the promotion he had been treated as a big star. He even continued an unbeaten streak in TNA Wrestling during the early days of him and he defeated some of the biggest names in wrestling during the time.

Jeff Jarrett Reveals If Samoa Joe Was Being Held Back By Vince Russo
His unbeaten streak was ultimately beaten by the new megastar of TNA Wrestling Kurt Angle. It was the TNA Genesis pay per view event of 2006 where he could not break the unbeatable Ankle Lock of Kurt Angle. But the promotion did not give up on his main event push as he continued to dominate the entire roster.
He went on to win the TNA World Heavyweight Championship in the Lockdown pay per view event of 2008 where he defeated none other than Kurt Angle inside a steel cage. After dropping the title at the Bound For Glory IV, he could never win the title back, even though he has always been treated as a main event star in the promotion.

Jeff Jarrett who is also a former four times WCW World Heavyweight champion recently spoke on his My World Podcast where he looked back at the main event push of Samoa Joe and also revealed if he was being held back by Vince Russo. He said;
“You know, I’m gonna say going out on a limb here, but maybe not. I don’t think we’ll have to ask him, but I would be willing to bet Vince didn’t, look I know I’ve been in rooms and we’ve had discussions Vince, Dutch, others. Joe’s look was there and his work was there.

“I think there was a discussion on his verbal skills I was always a big proponent less is more. I know Dutch was that way too. Vince being a writer his nature is he likes more verbiage. So, I’d be willing to bet Vince wasn’t as high on his verbal skills as opposed to his look. I may be wrong, but that would be my gut.”
“I would definitely say I don’t think anybody in the room after, I don’t know, six months of Joe’s undefeated streak — I don’t think anybody in the room would have said, I think everybody would have said he’ll be world champ one day. I think it would be unanimous across the board. We’ll put the belt on him he’s earned it he’s got the momentum. He checks all the boxes. I think timing more than anything would be the battle there.”
