WWE Hall of Famer Jeff Jarrett recently remembered Owen Hart’s WWE career after the infamous Montreal Screwjob incident. After the departure of Bret ‘the Hitman’ Hart, a lot of fans and critics thought WWE might stop the push of Owen Hart and make him job.
After the departure of ‘the Hitman’ Bret Hart, Owen’s push was not even hampered a little bit. He was going really strong as a heel, even he won is your number of championships as well.
Jeff Jarrett On Owen Hart Staying With WWE After Montreal Screwjob
He won the WWE Tag Team Championship with Jeff Jarrett once and also he won the WWE European championship one after the departure of Bret Hart. There was no way one can say that Owen Hart was punished by WWE because of the infamous Montreal screwjob incident.
A lot of rumours suggest that WWE was planning a big push for the King of Harts. After one or a couple of Intercontinental Championship runs WWE might have most prestigious Championship in WWE around Owen’s shoulders; the WWE championship. But the demise of Owen changed everything completely.
Owen’s tag team partner Jeff Jarrett recently spoke with his My World podcast where he discussed about Owen Hart staying with WWE after the Montreal Screwjob. He said;
“We didn’t get into the ins and outs of the specifics of the deal. I can remember having conversations with agents and others, and, again, my delusional optimism, but I was really optimistic about Owen’s career, that , ok, this is a real opportunity because no matter how you sliced and diced it, he was the little brother. The story was played out on TV.
“Naturally, the brother went south, and a lot of controversy. Now, all of a sudden, what a platform. I guess in those days you can say I put on my promoter mentality or booker mentality, and what a great opportunity for Owen.”
