ROH aka Ring Of Honor had been a professional wrestling promotion which remained a house for making big names throughout the last two decades. It had created some of the biggest names of professional wrestling including the likes of Seth Rollins and Kevin Owens. Recently the promotion was going through a very bad time, and it was ultimately bought by Tony Khan who was also the owner of AEW.

Jeff Jarrett Thinks ROH Should Not AEW Lite

Most of the wrestling pundits and fans are agreeing on the fact that ROH under Tony Khan will never be anything more than a development territory for AEW. There is definitely a possibility of it, however, they could utilize the promotion in a better way as well.

Previously we have seen WWE purchasing some of their biggest competition of the 90s such as WCW and ECW. WWE tried to an a invasion angle after purchasing the promotions in 2001. The idea was really good but the execution was really poor. We did not get to hear of WCW after 2001 ever again. Even though there was plans of running the promotion parallel to WWE. But the idea did not work and we got brand split for the first time in 2002.

But WWE tried to resurrect ECW in 2006. It was a great idea but once again the promotion would never be anything more than a development territory for WWE. In 2010, WWE decided to stop ECW forever and they came up with the NXT. Fans fear the same thing about ROH as well. They are scared if the same thing would happen to the legendary promotion too under Tony Khan.

Jeff Jarrett who is a former four times WCW World Heavyweight champion and a former six times NWA World Heavyweight champion recently spoke to Ad Free Supershow Media Scrum where he gave his opinion about the current state of ROH and said the promotion should not become AEW lite. He said;

“I don’t know enough about what his vision is. Like, where will Ring of Honor content, is it going to stay on HonorClub? I don’t really, truly know enough of about what his vision is. I am absolutely excited because today at WrestleCon, I was having a pretty deep conversation about a guy that loved the Attitude Era and then he kind of fell off.

“If it’s AEW lite, I’m not sure that’s the recipe for success. If it’s a completely different vision, more power to him because I think wrestling is thriving with all the different brands. Look at WrestleCon. Six or Seven shows at this venue today. MLW, multiple Lucha shows in the town. I, for one, am super excited about where the business is going.”
