Professional wrestling legend and WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross who is currently working as a colour commentator in AEW recently talked about Cody Rhodes winning the men’s Royal Rumble match of 2023 and expressed his happiness about the success of the former AEW star.
This might have been a really feel good Royal Rumble match but to be honest it was pretty much predictable. It was maybe the most predictable Royal Rumble match in WWE history. From the very first day of his return everybody knew he was going to win the Royal Rumble match of 2023.

Jim Ross Expresses His Happiness On Cody Rhodes Winning Royal Rumble
The match was critically well received. It did not serve much surprises but it did a very good job in aspect of storytelling and as a match it was pretty entertaining. Rhodes made his entry at the number 30 and he went on to win the whole thing. Also, the no. 1 entry Gunther set a new record of surviving for the longest time in Royal Rumble history, beating Rey Mysterio’s record which was set in 2006.
The match was really good but it was not perfect. Throughout the match it had been predictable and honestly it could have been made a little unpredictable if the finalist of the match along with Rhodes was Sami Zayn. But WWE decided to keep Sami Zayn away from the Royal Rumble match, maybe they did not want to compromise with the popularity of Rhodes.

Jim Ross who is currently working as a colour commentator in AEW recently spoke on his Grillin JR podcast where he talked about Cody Rhodes winning the men’s Royal Rumble match of 2023 and expressed his happiness about the success of the former AEW star. He said;
“I watched in and out of it. I had company here, so I didn’t dwell on it. But I did watch pieces of it. I thought it was an amazing production. It looked great, sounded good on my TV. So it was an interesting event. Certainly [I’ll] congratulate Cody Rhodes for winning it.

“It’s not a huge surprise, but does that matter? He was the right guy for the job. Now he’s gonna be able to help the company build their way to WrestleMania in a few weeks. So I thought it was a good show.
“I thought there were some moments in there. I thought it was interesting that they started out with the Royal Rumble match for the men. Didn’t have a problem with it. I thought it was an interesting way to start, and it captured my attention right off the bat.”
