Professional wrestling legend and WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross who is currently working as a colour commentator in the AEW recently remembered Vince McMahon giving so much freedom to Shawn Michaels in WWE and revealed why he gave it to the Heart Break Kid.

Shawn Michaels is indeed one of the biggest names in WWE history. He is also one of the biggest home grown talents of the promotion. In spite of starting his career as a tag team wrestler in WWE, he was given ultimate singles success at a very young age and he became one of the biggest names of WWE in the 90s.

Jim Ross Reveals Why Shawn Michaels Was Given So Much Creative Freedom

It is also said that he had a lot of creative freedom in WWE from his early days in the promotion. Even some wrestlers accused him for destroying their WWE careers by using his creative freedom. Vader was one of those wrestlers whom WWE signed to make a big star, but ultimately he became a jobber.

There are more back stories about Shawn Michaels from the time that he was a refusing to lift Stone Cold Steve Austin at WrestleMania XIV. He was forced to do it, and one of the biggest names who made him do it was the Undertaker, who is said to be standing on the Gorilla position to make sure he does everything right.

But after Michaels made his in ring return in 2002, he was a completely changed man. Not only he lifted a lot of wrestlers, he did not take enough Championship reigns either. Michaels is vastly considered as one of the biggest wrestlers not only in WWE but in professional wrestling history. He will always be remembered among the WWE fans as The Icon of pro wrestling.

Jim Ross who is currently working as a colour commentator in the AEW recently spoke on his Grilling JR podcast where he remembered Vince McMahon giving so much freedom to Shawn Michaels in WWE and revealed why he gave it to the Heart Break Kid. He said;

“Well, Shawn Michaels had Vince’s [McMahon] ear, so Shawn had a free ticket to do pretty much anything he wanted because he was such a good salesman for his own stuff that he could convince you that [it] was a good idea.

“But if anybody else on the roster had come to us with something along those same lines, it would have never made television. Shawn was a special case in that regard, and Vince let him roll with his instincts probably as much as anybody we know or could talk about.”
