Jinder Mahal and The Great Khali are two of the very few superstars to represent India in the international league of WWE. The company has invented many gimmick matches, over the years which could have been used for PPV attractions. One of those was the Punjabi Prison match which was a direct import from the subcontinent. It could definitely come back given that there are still a couple of Indian superstars on the roster.

Jinder Mahal is obviously the most known of them due to the fact that he won the WWE Championship, previously. It appears that he wouldn’t mind going back into the Punjabi Prison, once more. He is currently in a feud with Drew McIntyre which could be producing some future physical battles, without a doubt. The Modern-Day Maharaja is really willing to make that happen inside the unforgiving structure.

The Punjabi Prison structure is too dangerous as every inch of that cage made of bamboo, really hurts. But competing inside that sort of structure helps superstars to solidify their legacies. El Brunch de WWE recently spoke to Jinder Mahal where he remembered the last Punjabi Prison match that went down at Battleground 2017. Per his words, McIntyre could be a great opponent for this gimmick match which should return, very soon.

Jinder Mahal says McIntyre is a perfect opponent inside Punjabi Prison

“So Great Khali actually designed the match. He was supposed to be in the first one, he was actually in the second one ever and then I was in the third one and it’s a very vicious, brutal match. The Punjabi Prison is… hopefully, I don’t have to do it too many times in my career because going into the Punjabi Prison, you know you’re not gonna be the same person when you leave,” Jinder Mahal continued.

“That match takes everything out of you and Great Khali is the creator of the match and then when I was in the Punjabi Prison, Great Khali surprised everyone and made his return, so yeah, hopefully — you know what? I wouldn’t mind having Drew [McIntyre] in the Punjabi Prison.”

Overall three Punjabi Prison matches have taken place in WWE history. The Great Khali competed in one of them while he helped Jinder Mahal in the latest one that took place, three years ago. Mahal defeated Randy Orton in that match by escaping the cage via help from the seven-footer Indian Superstar who made his return to the WWE after four long years.

At present, Jinder Mahal and Drew McIntyre are in the middle of a feud that should result in a spree of matches in the future. Two weeks ago, McIntyre interrupted Jinder Mahal’s 35th birthday celebration. McIntyre attacked Mahal, Shanky, and Veer with a steel chair before absolutely destroying Shanky with repeated chair shots. The feud began after Mahal ruined McIntyre’s opportunity to win the 2021 MITB ladder match.
