John Cena is reportedly done with his WWE schedule as he took to Twitter to thank the WWE Universe for his latest run with the company. WWE has been using the Summer of Cena campaign ever since his return at Money in the Bank which was wrapped up with the loss to WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns in the main event of Saturday’s SummerSlam pay-per-view.
John Cena then also worked in the post-show dark segment where Brock Lesnar completely decimated him by taking him to the Suplex City. Afterward, he posted a tweet saying that he will see everyone soon and also let them knew that how grateful he is for the bygone run,
“Words cannot describe how appreciative I am that the @WWEUniverse allowed me the opportunity to return and perform. Thank you staff, superstars, and most of all FANS for giving me an unforgettable summer at “home” with my “family”. The journey takes me away now but I’ll C U soon.”

That being said, WWE will be moving forward without John Cena but he will still be working in the September 10 SmackDown taping from Madison Square Garden in New York City. Due to storyline reasons, he is likely to be kept off the TV and might just work in a dark main event segment that night. He is also advertised to team with The Mysterios that night to face Reigns and SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos in a six-man tag team match.

John Cena also commented on his retirement
Afterward, the veteran WWE Superstar appeared on ABC’s Good Morning America show to promote his “Vacation Friends” movie, which is scheduled to hit Hulu this Friday. As noted, John Cena lost to WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns at SummerSlam. Hence he joked about finishing in second place.
He also commented on a potential retirement,
“The audience is my family, so I love the environment, but I also want to be kind to them and I don’t want to do it selfishly just to do it. I still feel good, even though I finished second, I still feel pretty good. So, I still feel as if I have something to contribute, so time will tell.”
For now, John Cena will not be available to the WWE for the storylines in the near future as he has been written off TV following his SummerSlam loss. But he still has one WWE date left for next month on September 10 for the MSG show. He will now be heading to the UK to film the “Argylle” spy thriller soon while more episodes of “Wipe Out” have to be filmed for TBS in the coming months.
