For over 15 years, John Cena has been the top-most figure in the WWE who was featured in numerous significant matches and moments. Some of those famous moments came at WrestleMania where he featured in the main event for multiple years in a row. From winning titles in those to even getting down to his knees for his previous love in life, he did it all at the grandest stage of them all.
While setting up his WrestleMania legacy, John Cena also starred in a match that was cut short due to time constraints and the original plans had to be reverted. On his TikTok account, The Cenation Leader disclosed that his Triple Threat Match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Big Show and Adam Copeland (formerly known as Edge) at WWE WrestleMania 25 on April 5, 2009 didn’t go according to the plans.
In what marked the 25th anniversary of Wrestlemania, that title match featuring John Cena preceded the legendary encounter between Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker. The two delivered an unforgettable match that many touts to be the greatest of all time. Due to the thunder of that match, the Triple Threat bout had to be shortened and it was due to time constraints.

John Cena thanked his WrestleMania 25 opponents
During the conversation on TikTok, John Cena addressed WWE management’s decision to cut short his WrestleMania match and he further expressed gratitude to his opponents, Edge and The Big Show, for their cooperation in the match,
“Those guys had a long match, which means you got to find the time somewhere, which means they took a lot of time away from this match. Yes, taking time away from your match happens at every level. I want to thank my opponents, Edge and The Big Show, for being so calm and collected and adjusting what we needed to do, and still being able to take some high-risk and give the audience some crazy moments.”

Edge headed into that Wrestlemania as the World Heavyweight Champion, the title that he won at Elimination Chamber, a month ago. John Cena pinned Big Show to become the new champion at the Show of Shows. Again a month later at Backlash, Edge won back the title from Cena in a Last Man Standing Match.
