John Cena is no more a regular feature on WWE TV but that doesn’t mean that he’s gone from the professional wrestling ring. Admittedly, he’d love to feature in more top matches in the future if and when Vince McMahon and co. needs him but there’s no concrete update on when that could actually happen.
Being the flag-bearer of the WWE for more than anybody else in the history of the company, John Cena has become a household name in the world of professional wrestling. Before transitioning to Hollywood, he’s literally done it all in the pro wrestling world. While Hollywood would continue to become his first priority, fans are obviously eagerly waiting for him to return to the squared circle, as well.

Following his last appearance John Cena would take to social media and inform the fans that he will see them soon but not necessarily, he provided an accurate update on that. Now, while speaking On Backstage’s In The Envelope podcast, the sixteen-time world champion stated that he will need to connect with the story for a possible comeback to WWE.
Why John Cena Had To Miss WWE Wrestlemania 38?
“So if I read a script and I’m throttled by it and I just I love the story and I feel as if I can contribute to the story. It also doesn’t matter what they want me for, they could be a small part walk across the screen and say hi or it could be you know, you with your name on the marquee,” John Cena stated.
“I think for me at least it comes down to loving the material and then it goes to the next level of well is this with good folks and sometimes you know. Sometimes I may take a gamble on the groups but I very rarely nowadays. I just can’t do anything that I can’t resonate with and I don’t have some sort of connection.”
John Cena not coming back to WWE, sooner
John Cena hasn’t been featured in a program since losing to WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns at SummerSlam in late August with the title on the line. He returned for a one-off occasion to work the September 10 SmackDown from Madison Square Garden. It was a dark main event at the show, teaming with The Mysterios for a six-man win over The Bloodline.
But, John Cena has been away since then from TV, focusing on his Hollywood career. This is the reason why he also missed Wrestlemania for the second year in a row.
