Stone Cold Steve Austin remains an iconic character in professional wrestling who has influenced almost everybody including another legend in John Cena. Before the latter took the baton of WWE and moved forward, raising hell with beer cans used to be a regular scene on Monday Night Raws. People also considered those moments that led to the golden era of the WWE.
WWE recently released a backstage clip of Stone Cold and John Cena greeting each other, and a line thrown by Austin apparently “melted” Cena’s heart.
Legendary John Cena Misses Being A Full-Time WWE Superstar
The released clip is from a backstage segment at the RAW Reunion episode on July 22, 2019, in Tampa, Florida. That show opened with Cena’s return to WWE TV for a segment with WWE Hall of Famers Rikishi and SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos. The same night had a headliner featuring Austin who raised a big toast in the ring with Superstars and Legends dedicated to the WWE Universe.

John Cena was praised by The Texas Rattlesnake
In the released video, it can be seen that John Cena and Austin were greeting each other and shaking hands, backstage. Cena mentioned how he sucks while Austin commented on how he was proud of Cena.
“Thank you very much, Steve. That means a lot,” the Cenation leader responded as Austin walked away from the scene.
Once Austin was off the camera, John Cena then turned to the camera and reacted to the praise he just received from Stone Cold.
“So I’m very glad you got that on camera because, like, that just melted my heart. Steve Austin saying ‘I’m proud of you’ is really cool,” the 16-time world champion noted while facing the camera. He also thanked the camera guy for capturing the moment.
John Cena and Stone Cold never had the opportunity to face each other inside the squared circle, but they had interactions on WWE Tough Enough. Also, Austin delivered a Stone Cold Stunner to Cena after Cena’s win over Big Show during WWE Tribute to The Troops 2003 edition. Then on the June 6, 2011, edition of RAW, Austin served as the special guest referee when Cena and Alex Riley digested a DQ loss to R-Truth and The Miz.
