John Cena made his long-awaited return to WWE on the June 27 episode of Monday Night Raw. He appeared in front of the fans during the episode that took place in Laredo, Texas to celebrate his 20th anniversary with the company. Fans and WWE Superstars were all amped up for the return and they had a great time with the franchise player.
On the show, John Cena met many WWE Superstars, including current United States Champion Theory, and gave an emotional speech where he thanked the fans for supporting him throughout the two decades in the WWE. Per the previous reports, WWE intended to set him up in a match against Theory, possibly at Summerslam of this year.
John Cena Under A No-Disclosure Agreement With The WWE?
The updated reports suggest that WWE might have already pushed back that match or anything else to next year given that the franchise player of the company won’t be available for a match around the summer.
John Cena won’t be a part of WWE Summerslam 2022
According to the reports of Wrestling Observer, John Cena’s next match might take place at WrestleMania 39 instead of SummerSlam 2022. It makes sense since the legendary wrestler isn’t advertised for any future WWE TV dates right now which is odd. Featuring him in ads helped WWE to move tickets in a big way, this year as well as, last year. So it doesn’t make sense that WWE would keep his future appearances a secret.
“He is not announced for any future TV dates and given how many tickets he moved in Laredo, if he was announced for a show, he’d move more tickets right now than anyone except Dwayne Johnson. So it makes no sense not to advertise him,” the update from the source insisted.
WWE Money In The Bank 2022: Final Men’s Ladder Match Participant Declared On Smackdown
John Cena is eventually expected to have a feud with Theory as the two have been involved in social media banter for months. Many expect that WWE’s babe-ruth will be able to elevate the young superstar to a higher level when this feud/match takes place. Perhaps, WWE is intending to host the match Wrestlemania that goes Hollywood, next year.
For the time being, John Cena’s final match remains at Summerslam 2021 where he competed against Roman Reigns in a Universal Championship match to come up short.
