WWE Raw star and a former WWE Universal champion Kevin Owens who is also a former three times WWE United States champion recently talked about teaming up with the former 16 times WWE World champion John Cena on a recent episode of Friday Night Smackdown.
Kevin Owens recently had an excellent feud with Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Heavyweight Championship. It had references of his previous feud with Roman Reigns that took place two years ago. This time Owens looked more of a serious contender than their previous meeting. A lot of fans speculated that ovens is going to take at least one World title away from Roman Reigns this time.
Kevin Owens Reflects On Teaming Up With John Cena
During this time he had feud with almost the entire Bloodline. The feud actually started during Survivor Series when Owens tried to take out his best friend Sami Zayn out of Bloodline. At Survivor Series, Bloodline met Owens and four other men in a WarGames match. Sami decided to betray his best friend Owens in this match when Owens was really close of snatching a pinfall victory over Roman Reigns.
After Survivor Series, Owens slowly built up his character stronger. On the final episode of Friday Night Smackdown, he teamed up with the 16 times WWE World champion John Cena to take on the team of Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn.
Owens pinned Sami after a Stunner to win the match. Technically Roman Reigns lost the match, and it was Owens who took the pinfall victory. He was a legit contender for the title before walking into his Royal Rumble title match against Roman.
Kevin Owens who is also a former three times WWE United States champion recently spoke to TMZ Sports where he talked about teaming up with the former 16 times WWE World champion John Cena on a recent episode of Friday Night Smackdown.
“I started with John when I came to WWE, and now he’s going to be my partner against Sami.vMe and Sami have had so much history in WWE, let alone our entire careers. To be in that kind of situation now together, it’s all just so surreal. I’m just grateful for the chance to experience that stuff.”
“Me and my son will always have a little bond over John Cena. My son, as he was growing up, was a huge John Cena fan. When I signed my WWE contract, I told my son, ‘maybe I’ll get to fight John Cena one day, then I did.’”
“He’s still excited that John’s coming around. It’s a cool little thing to share with my son anytime John’s involved. My son likes WWE but is not an avid fan like I was growing up.”
“Anytime John comes back around, it piques his [Owen] interest, and now I get to team with him. He saw us fight each other. Now he’s going to get to see me team with him. It’s a neat little thing.”
