WWE Universe received a piece of good news as Smackdown went on air. Shane McMahon announced that he will not be able to attend the show since he is busy training with his life coach. This will ensure that he gets fully ready for his matchup against Kevin Owens. But his absence did not allow to let Owens have the night off in peace as the authority figure already inserted him in a match against Scottish Psychopath.

Kevin Owens was originally out on Smackdown to cut a promo on Shane McMahon but Drew McIntyre was out soon to remind about his scheduled match. The duo started battling with McIntyre punishing Owens with a Glasgow Kiss head-butt and a Celtic Cross. Owens made a comeback hitting a superkick as the fight spilled outside the ring. The Prizefighter then hit two back to back Stunners on McIntyre to pick up the huge win en route to Summerslam.

Smackdown had a loaded card last night as WWE made a number of announcements official for the show. Trish Stratus returning to the show was the obvious headliner as she appeared on a talk show hosted by Jerry Lawler. Finn Balor came back to action against Dolph Ziggler. Plus, a huge tag team match became official featuring The New Day (courtesy wwe.com)

Fans were pretty sure that this match on Smackdown may not go down on a smoother note, at all. But he match went out of the card as WWE announced a new match for the show. It turned out to be Kevin Owens taking on against Drew McIntyre in a first-time-ever matchup. ‘This is awesome’ chants broke out in the arena indicating how much physical this match was. In the end, Kevin Owens was the one to stand tall earning momentums for his match at Summerslam against Shane McMahon.
