Former WWE Universal heavyweight champion Kevin Owens who is also a former two times WWE Intercontinental Champion and a former three times WWE United States champion recently talked about his desire to have a Tag Team Championship run in WWE. He also named the wrestlers he would like to team up with.
A recent Tag Team of Kevin Owens and the former four times WWE World Champion and Seth Rollins has become quite famous among the WWE fans. Even though it is not more of a tag team, they just represented and onscreen friendship and they have been mentioned as best friends a number of times by the commentators.
Kevin Owens Wants Tag Team Championship Run
But surprisingly Owens did not mention the name of Seth Rollins as his desired Tag Team partner to win the Tag Team Championship gold. A lot of fans were expecting to see a Tag Team Championship run for this unlikely duo and it actually would have been quite interesting to see.
Owens wants to team up with either Finn Balor or his real life best friend Sami Zayn. This is not the first time he is mentioning these two individuals as his desired Tag Team partners. He has mentioned the name of Sami Zayn quite a number of times before as his potential Tag Team partner.
But Sami is in Smackdown and Owens had been drafted to Monday Night RAW a number of months before so it is not possible to see a Tag Team run between this duo. But if the rumors extending the brand split is true, it is definitely possible, after WrestleMania 38 of course.
A tag team between Owens and Finn Balor would be quite interesting to see. According to a recent report, Balor would not receive any kind of push anymore. A Tag Team Championship run along with Owens could potentially save his WWE career. The Tag Team Championship is won title that Owens could not win yet. So whoever the partner is, he needs to win this title at least once.
Kevin Owens who is also a former former three times WWE United States champion recently spoke to Give Me Sport where he talked about his desire to have a Tag Team Championship run in WWE. He also named the wrestlers he would like to team up with. He said;
“I’d love to be tag team champion just to add that notch to my belt. If it was going to be with anybody, it should be with Sami Zayn, but I think Finn Balor would be a great partner for me, too. Beyond that, I really don’t know who I could pick. It doesn’t feel like anybody else would necessarily feel right other than either of those two. I think we could tell some great stories.
“Not many people can say they’ve had a singles match at WrestleMania, especially these days as it’s getting more and more rare. So, to do it with Sami after all the history we have, it’s incredible to look back on and I think people loved the match. I loved that match, for sure.”
