In the name of COVID-19 related budget cuts, WWE released several employees since late 2020 and Lana was a part of those cuts alongside her husband Miro. The spree of releases for the female superstars started with Superstars such as Chelsea Green and Mickie James. But the former Ravishing Russian’s exit was a shocker given that she has been an original WWE product.
Back in June of last year, WWE held yet another round of cuts from the company and the big names included superstars such as Braun Strowman and Lana. Both of these superstars were regular on TV and they were let go due to the lucrative contracts offered to them by WWE. Also, both these names are yet to sign with a wrestling promotion following their releases.

Lana has since been engaged in a variety of projects outside of professional wrestling to keep herself busy in several ways. She has previously been involved in movie projects and one such is in the pipeline in the near future. The former WWE Superstar is acting in a film titled WifeLike, which will be released, this year.

Lana bagged a Hollywood movie project
Lana took to her Instagram and uploaded a few pictures from the set while captioning the post with the following statement,
“I can’t wait for you all to see the movie #Wifelike on @paramountplus ! @elenakampouris you are a star !!! It was so fun working with great talent like Jonathan Reece Myers, @doronbell, @agamdarshi@sarasampaio & @alix.villaret”
For the better portion of her time in WWE, Lana was seen managing her real-life husband, Miro before leaving him for another romantic angle in Bobby Lashley. Eventually, she also established herself as an in-ring athlete who was close to winning the Women’s Tag Team Championships but ultimately the champion tag wasn’t reserved for her.
In the past, while speaking to Action Sports Jax Miro fka Rusev opened up about whether Lana is interested in making the jump to AEW. While that possibility remains true, it seems that her wife will continue to feature in non-wrestling projects for the time being,
“Outside of wrestling, she could always go because before wrestling, she was something else. My mind is blown if she decides to focus on a different career path how successful that would be.” (Quotes courtesy Fightful)
