WWE Hall of Famer Lita returned during the second 2022 episode of WWE SmackDown on FOX. This was touted as her return to the blue brand after nearly 20 years of hiatus. The legend received a huge pop from the audience present at the CHI Health Center in Omaha, Nebraska while her appearance was also majorly discussed all over social media.
In the absence of the likes of Sasha Banks, Lita’s presence was a breath of fresh air to hype things up for Royal Rumble 2022. She clearly mentioned how she still has one run left in her in the WWE which is why she is eyeing to win the 30-Woman Rumble match and then go on to headline Wrestlemania in a top Women’s Division match.

Speaking of it, All Elite Wrestling AEW reached out Lita back in 2021 to appear on a show for a top program, according to a report by Fightful Select. It was noted that the two sides could not agree on the terms and a deal couldn’t simply be reached.

Lita vs. Britt Baker was planned by AEW
Furthermore, it was informed that AEW was interested in a program between the current AEW Women’s World Champion going up against the four-time WWE Women’s Champion that could have taken place around the month of September.
“Fightful learned via sources close to Lita that AEW had reached out to the WWE Hall of Famer back in 2021 to appear on a show, but the two sides were unable to come to terms. Specifically, we learned that a pitch was made to Lita to appear in a top program with the AEW Women’s Champion Dr. Britt Baker DMD. There were talks between the two sides and a creative plan laid out to possibly happen around AEW All Out 2021, but it didn’t end up happening,” noted the source.
It was further noted that the talks between AEW and Lita came to an end on a positive note where the two sides could eventually do business together in the near future. The returnee was likely to do a one-off appearance at the 2022 Royal Rumble and go back to a hiatus but she’s now booked at Elimination Chamber. She has last performed at Evolution 2018 PPV followed by a 10-woman tag team match on the October 29, 2018 edition of RAW.
