Liv Morgan delivered one of the biggest shockers of 2022 when she beat Ronda Rousey for the SmackDown Women’s Championship at the Money in the Bank premium live event on July 2, 2022. The decision of making her the champion was met with a lot of praise from both fans and critics since this kid has worked hard to make her way to the top and she deserved to be the champion.

Many doubted whether this reign would last long or not but then Liv Morgan would go on to successfully defend her title against The Baddest Woman on the Planet at SummerSlam on July 30th, 2022. The match outcome was a bit controversial as the champion tapped out but she still emerged, victorious.

Until that night, Liv Morgan used to be a super babyface but the weak portrayal of being a champion made things change at SummerSlam. Rousey’s dominant performance drew a lot of boos to her adversary as the latter was literally bested by the UFC Hall of Famer.

The 28-year-old Superstar opened up on the current fan reaction towards him during a new interview with Ariel Helwani of BT Sport. It turns out that she always expected this reaction since fame doesn’t stay the same way for pro wrestlers.

Negative reaction doesn’t bother Liv Morgan

Also while speaking in an interview with Gorilla Position, Liv Morgan also revealed that she’s not much bothered by the online backlash. She seemed to be a little bit edgy but then she’s just happy to be a champion.

“No, it didn’t surprise me. I kind of weirdly anticipated it, but in the same time it kind of made me feel like I had a little bit of an edge, because at the end of the day, the referee’s decision is final and I’m still the SmackDown Women’s Champion whether anyone kind of likes it or not.” (Quotes courtesy Wrestling Inc)

Liv Morgan has two wins over Rousey, which is a first-time accolade in the company. But she didn’t have any definitive victory. The first time it happened, she cashed in her Money in the Bank briefcase on Rousey, who was still recovering from a grueling match against Nataly. Then she again pinned Rousey but that’s due to a bad decision from the referee.

Many felt that Liv Morgan needed to get herself elevated to the next level if she wants to survive for a long time. She competed against Shayna Baszler at Clash at the Castle on September 3 and picked up a clean pin-fall victory via the ObLivion move. Many believe that this clean victory with no shenanigans may bring the support back towards her.
