Over the course of the past several weeks, Liv Morgan made a huge impact on the WWE Universe. Starting from the recent WWE Money in the Bank premium live event, she’s residing on top of the roster as the reigning champion on the blue brand.
Back at Money in the Bank, not only did she win the MITB briefcase, but also cashed in that prized championship match contract on Ronda Rousey to become the SmackDown women’s champion, on the same night. While many thought it to be unthinkable, Liv Morgan then also defeated Ronda in a rematch at SummerSlam to remain the champion.

That wasn’t the plan for her heading into the 2022 summer. Before Liv Morgan officially moved to SmackDown from Raw, there were plans to keep her involved in a storyline with The Judgment Day. There was a time when she teases an alliance with AJ Styles and Finn Balor before the latter kicked Edge out from the Judgment Day’s leader position.

WWE had plans for Liv Morgan on Raw before she became champion
Apparently, Liv Morgan was to continue her beef with the only female member of Judgment Day, Rhea Ripley. Plans changed for good as Liv was moved to SmackDown and then became the champion in no time. On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer talked about the prior plans around The Miracle Kid, briefly and offered the following updates,
“Originally, that was the Liv Morgan spot, but she’s on a different show now. But yeah, in theory, there should be a woman to take out Rhea Ripley and I’m figuring Rey Mysterio ends there in some form or fashion.
I mean, it’s been teased and they kind of brought up – Rey did a promo, you know, saying how we’re former champions and we have like a bond, so it felt like, you know, that Edge and Rey are going to be put together and where Dominik fits in, I guess we’ll find out.”
With Liv Morgan working on Fridays, there has to be a new foil who should be relevant enough to end Ripley’s reign of terror now that she’s back from an injury. As for Liv, she retained the SmackDown Women’s Championship against Ronda Rousey at Summerslam and she is set for another championship defense against the same opponent at Extreme Rules 2022.
