Maria Kanellis Believes That WWE Women Deserve Better

There’s been an uproar regarding WWE’s negligence towards the Women’s Division and Maria Kanellis is echoing the same. At this point, WWE has a lot ongoing which includes a women’s division on their three brands, and each of those needs attention, separately. Some people are not happy with how the company has lately treated their women’s division and this has also caused some frustration backstage.

One of the most popular female talents in the WWE from the past, Maria Kanellis has always been very much vocal about the company’s ridiculous decision toward her or anyone relatable. This has just grown bigger with the fact that WWE released her from the contract during the COVID-19 pandemic, last year. Now she’s opened up about WWE’s current situation with the female roster.

Maria Kanellis Speaks On Her On Screen Authority Role In ROH

While many will say that women get treated fairly in WWE, as they get to main-eventing WrestleMania nowadays. But some are saying that they need to focus on their regular programming, instead, where the matches are being cut short in comparison to the male roster matches.

Maria Kanellis has no grudges against the WWE

The Queen’s Crown tournament (the female version of the King Of The Ring) started on last week’s SmackDown and it featured two tournament matches that were short in length. This led Maria Kanellis to fire a tweet,

“On SmackDown Toni Storm vs Zelina lasted 2:14 and Liv Morgan vs Carmella lasted 1:36 is this true? @wwe #WomensWrestlingMatters #TheyDeserveBetter”

A fan called her out and stated that she is holding grudges with the WWE as the company let her go. In reply, this is what she had to offer,

“I have no grudge and I said nothing insulting. I asked a question. I believe women deserve the same amount of time as the men.”

Some of the replies from Maria Kanellis’ original tweet can be read, below,

“Literally had the first 20 min of SmackDown pushing the Women’s Title match at the next PPV. Introducing the women’s equivalent to KOTR and having 2 feature matches at a PPV in Saudi is pretty impressive. So the matches were short. Not every women’s match needs to be 5 star.”

“Considering the men’s qualifiers this past week were 8 minutes and 11 1/2 minutes, it shows they aren’t giving the women’s tournament the same attention as the men’s, which is an issue.”

“And on Rampage the same night Jade Cargill vs. Skye Blue got 1:02. At least on SmackDown the women got a long promo segment to start the show.”

Maria Kanellis wasn’t utilized properly on TV following her second pregnancy. She was frustrated with her position and the company eventually released her alongside her husband, Mike Kanellis. Nowadays, both of them are with the ROH promotion where Maria is playing the role of an official who is trying to elevate the women’s division of the promotion.
