Maria Kanellis has not been physical inside the squared circle for a long time on a regular basis but that didn’t stop her from appearing on TV. She and her husband Mike Bennett were let go by WWE in April 2020 as part of the COVID-19 budget cuts. Prior to that, the two resided under the biggest pro-wrestling banner for over three years which took them to nowhere.

Following the release, both of them eventually returned to the Ring of Honor promotion and stayed there until the company went on hiatus last year. The promotion is now back after being owned by AEW President Tony Khan but Maria Kanellis hasn’t gone back there.

With Khan being in full charge of ROH, the company is about to function, like the good old days. Thus, fans have been wondering whether Maria Kanellis will return to the company or not. While speaking to James Lascuola of PW Ponderings, the former WWE Diva herself admitted that Tony Khan has reached out to her about a position in the refurbished Ring of Honor promotion.

Maria Kanellis reveals recent conversation with AEW President

“There has been some communication of trying to figure out a way….he has reached out to me and now we’re just trying to find a time to get on the phone and discuss things further. I’m hopeful that happens soon. I’m thankful and appreciative that he even reached out to me because I love Ring of Honor,” Maria Kanellis continued.

“A piece of my soul might have died a little bit when I was released from the company last year because last year was so fulfilling and I loved working with that division. I’m hopeful that we do find a time to communicate and a lot of our friends are trying to make sure we get in touch. I will keep everybody posted as things come into play.” (quotes courtesy Fightful)

After returning to ROH in 2020, Maria Kanellis was utilized as one of the head honchos of the women’s division who came up with brand new ideas to put the roster on the map. Unfortunately, that project didn’t last long since the company had to shut its doors. But with a billionaire acquiring the company, fans can be hopeful of something bright in the future.

Maria Kanellis also arrived at the Impact Wrestling promotion after ROH shot down as a part of the Honor No More faction but she’s not under bound contract with the promotion. She’s making appearances on a per appearance basis and hence we shouldn’t consider her to be an exclusive talent on the Impact roster.
