Professional wrestling legend and WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley who is the former three times WWE World Champion recently remembered his performance from Royal Rumble match of 1998 and looked back at entering the Rumble three times with three different gimmicks.

Royal Rumble 1998 was special for so many reasons. It was one of the earliest Rumble events of the Attitude Era and it also mark the much awaited start of the main event push for Stone Cold Steve Austin. After winning the Royal Rumble match of 1998, Austin went on to challenge Shawn Michaels for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania XIV to win his first WWE Championship gold.

Mick Foley Remembers Entering Royal Rumble 1998 Three Times

Royal Rumble 1998 was famous for another reason, Mick Foley entered this Rambo match for three times in total in three different attires. At first he entered number 1 as Cactus Jack and survived for nearly 10 minutes before getting eliminated. Once again he entered on number 16 as Mankind but this time he managed to survive for only two minutes.

The entered the Rumble match for the third time as the entry number 28, this time he entered as Dude Love. He was one of the final four wrestlers of the match before finally getting eliminated by Farooq. Such an incident never took place in Royal Rumble history ever again and this will always be remembered as one of the most famous incidents in Royal Rumble history.

Mick Foley who is the former three times WWE World Champion recently spoke on his FOLEY IS POD Podcast where he remembered his performance from Royal Rumble match of 1998 and looked back at entering the Rumble three times with three different gimmicks. He said;

“At that point, Mankind was not going with the sweats and sneakers. He was a tights and boots guy. I was a seventeen a half inch [wrestling boot] man. All three characters wore boots that went almost all the way up to the boot.

“Mankind might have been fifteen. Cactus went way up there. If I had to change one thing it would’ve been Velcro. All the way around. I would’ve invested in Velcro for all three of those pairs of boots because that was the most ominous threat!

“How do I get those boots off? There’d be a team of people working on me. It was like a pit crew. I’d come back, I’d probably have the one boot I’d be working on; even when it came time to put on the other boot we had someone moving here, here. It was harrowing!”
