WWE Divas champion Nikki Bella recently spoke to Wetpaint Entertainment to promote Total Divas. Here are some highlights: “It was sad when Trin left – it sucked because I love her and [husband Jonathan Fatu],” Nikki says. “But I think she was just more focused on being a wife on her off days and getting her home life together.”
“Being a Diva is not easy,” she acknowledges. “We are on the road 300 days a year. We don’t get a lot of family or personal time. With Total Divas on top of that, on our days off, we have the cameras following us, and that’s not for everyone. Some people hit the point where they just want free time on their off days and I respect that fully.”
“I’m really excited that Paige and Alicia Fox joined the cast,” Brie states. “I know sometimes its hard for the audience when we’re adding people and watching people leave. But I think that Paige is going to bring a lot because she’s young and she’s got a great wrestling background. Alicia Fox is considered a vet. It will be something new.”
Though both of the twins had a relationship with Alicia beforehand – they’ve known her for eight years – they are just getting to know Paige along with the viewers, and so far, they like what they see. “Paige is a really cool, rad girl,” Nikki gushes. “She’s rambunctious, has a ton of energy, and makes me wish I was 22 again. I’m really excited to see how the world is going to take her in.”
And the newness doesn’t stop there. According to Brie, the two newbies will add a single girl perspective to balance out the wifed-up (at least metaphorically for Nikki) remaining cast.
“You’ll get to see the life of being a single Diva on the road so much,” she dishes. “It’s very hard to have relationships.” Both girls agree that there is a “natural divide” between the cast members in a relationship and the free agents – but not for negative reasons.
“I’m spending my time with John, and Brie’s spending her time with Bryan,” the WWE Divas champ explains. “I think it’s like with any job when you have the single co-workers, they’ll go get drinks after work together while the others are wrapped up in their men. I rarely get free-time so when I do, I’m like attached to John. We call it leech-y mode, I just don’t want to let go.”
