Carmelo Hayes has once again become the mid-card champion following last night’s NXT In Your House 2022. The former NXT North American Champion recaptured his title as he defeated Cameron Grimes in singles action in one of the top matches of the evening. In the end, Hayes’ ally, Trick Williams offered distractions so that his friend could pick up the win.
The match at NXT In Your House 2022 originally was a full back-and-forth affair where Grimes showed his mental reservations about the mean antics thrown by Williams and Hayes. But the two-on-one odd ultimately paid off against Grimes. Trick’s distraction allowed Hayes to hit a stomp on the apron and then ultimately deliver his frog splash finisher to receive the pinfall victory. After the match, Trick came to raise the hand of his friend and celebrate the victory.

Carmelo Hayes begins his second title reign at NXT In Your House 2022
With this win at NXT In Your House 2022, Hayes begins his second reign as the North American Champion. He lost his so-called ‘A Championship’ in a multi-man ladder match at NXT Stand & Deliver during WrestleMania Weekend in Dallas, Texas.
Prior to that event, Grimes was being built as a super babyface who was ready to prove himself as a viable competitor and hence the title win seemed necessary for him. But ultimately, he was unable to hold on to the gold for a long tenure.

Grimes did successfully defend his title multiple times before this NXT In Your House 2022 match. One of those defenses occurred in a triple threat match against Solo Sikoa and Hayes But then Hayes wanted a one-on-one matchup while Sikoa stood with that same pledge. Grimes originally decided to give a shot to Sikoa after this week’s defense but now that’s up to the new champion.
New NXT Tag Team Champions were crowned during NXT In Your House 2022 pay-per-view event. The Creed Brothers (Julius Creed and Brutus Creed) defeated Pretty Deadly’s Elton Prince and Kit Wilson to become the new NXT Tag Team Champions. Deadly has been the champions since winning the then-vacant titles during the April 12 edition of the WWE NXT 2.0 episode.
Currently, The Creed Brothers are part of the stable, The Diamond Mine, and they will be enjoying their second reign as the tag champs on NXT 2.0.
