We always see stars from the NXT come to the main roster in search of bigger success. But it is extremely rare to see anyone from SmackDown or RAW transitioning to the NXT on a permanent basis. Of course some stars go to the NXT for a couple of appearances but soon they come back to where they belong.
This time a main roster star has a transition to the NXT on a full time basis. This star is no one else but former WWE United States Champion Baron Corbin. We saw him challenging for the NXT Championship against Carmelo Hayes recently. In spite of the fact he lost the challenge, he would stay in the NXT for now.

Same thing happened previously once when a top star transitioned to the NXT. It was Mandy Rose who transitioned to the NXT in 2021. After joining the NXT she turned out to be the top star of the brand. She won the NXT Women’s Championship and she was one of the longest reigning champions.
Baron Corbin was struggling badly before transitioning to the NXT. In spite of having an excellent career before, he was mostly being treated as a jobber. He has beaten the likes of Kurt Angle and AJ Styles. He is also the wrestler to pin Roman Reigns multiple times. He was indeed a solid mid card as long as Vince McMahon was in charge.
Baron Corbin Recently Returned To NXT
But after Triple H became the Head of Creative of WWE, he did not have any big plans for Corbin and unfortunately he turned to a jobber who loses every single week. It was difficult to believe that someone of his caliber is jobbing every week. In spite of playing all of his roles perfectly, WWE did not have any big plans for him.
Recently he came to the NXT and challenged Carmelo Hayes for the NXT Championship. He might have lost his first challenge but it does not look like he is leaving NXT anytime soon. Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio said that he would be working in the NXT for a while for the sake of his future.
“He’s a regular now in NXT and there’s going to be more people like that.” said Meltzer. Corbin winning the NXT championship and becoming a top star of the NXT once again would definitely benefit his career. We hope he comes back to the main roster stronger and he starts to dominate SmackDown and RAW once again.
