Over the past few months, there have been teases of witnessing Paige back to in-ring action, down the road. Even if that happens, it will take place outside the WWE given that her departure from the company has officially been announced.

Last week, the former WWE Divas Champion took to Twitter and posted a statement regarding her exit from the company which was under speculation for a long time given her absence from TV for over three years. So, her official WWE exit will take place on July 7. In the statement she provided, it was noted how her WWE deal is going to expire on that day.

During one of her latest Twitch streams, Paige then opened up about the impending WWE departure and the reason is that WWE decided not to re-sign her to a new contract. It’s pretty surprising considering the fact that one of the most popular female superstars of all time is confident about competing inside the squared circle, again.

“They kept me, even after my neck surgery, just sitting on my ass. I really appreciate that. I feel like I had so much left to give there as someone who can cut a decent promo and do a managerial role. It is what it is,” said Paige. “I’m not leaving because I want to, they just don’t want to re-sign my contract. I completely understand. There are no hard feelings.” (quotes courtesy Fightful)

Paige had a long association with the WWE

Paige mentioned how she got the vibes of an exit in recent times when she literally had to ask the officials about her future despite being present backstage during a live TV taping. The good thing is that her contract is coming to an end she won’t be having a no-compete clause attached to herself. Hence, the UK-born superstar can start appearing for any other promotion on an instant basis.

Paige was last seen inside a WWE ring at a live event on December 27, 2017, where she suffered an injury in a six-woman tag match. Her severe neck concussion was discovered on that night when she teamed with her Absolution partners Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose against Bayley, Mickie James, and Sasha Banks.

As a consequence, Paige would then officially announce her in-ring retirement, on the April 9, 2018 episode of Monday Night Raw. Since she retired from in-ring competition, WWE utilized her in several roles including being the General Manager of SmackDown and the manager of the Kabuki Warriors (Asuka & Kairi Sane). Plus, she was also one of the co-hosts of WWE Backstage on FOX.
