One of the biggest stories coming out of this week’s professional wrestling was Paige’s departure from the WWE. Despite the fact that she’s one of the most popular female superstars in the company’s history, WWE decided to let her go from their contract. While the deal continues to stay intact for the time being, it will expire in early July.
With that, an association of almost a decade between Paige and WWE is coming to an end. The doors will be kept open for an eventual return, down the road but that’s a long-term thing. For the time being, the UK native is willing to work somewhere else and that may include an independent circuit.
Paige admitted in a post on Twitter that she’s equally afraid as well as excited to work outside the WWE. She has now changed her Twitter bio to accept bookings at [email protected]. It will be interesting to see which company books her, next and in which capacity.
Paige Called Out WWE Fans For Calling Her Too Lazy To Make A Comeback
Paige hasn’t been used on live WWE TV since 2019
For the time away from active wrestling, she’s been earning tons of money on other media platforms like Twitch. WWE has certain prohibitions about superstars using their popularity to gain some money from these third-party platforms. But Paige was able to do so under her real name since she was never a part of the active roster for a long time.
Paige’s last match happened in with WWE at a live event on December 27, 2017, when she teamed with her Absolution tag team members Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose against Bayley, Mickie James, and Sasha Banks. Due to an injury picked up during that match, she officially announced on Raw that she was retiring from in-ring competition.
After that, Paige appeared often on WWE TV in different capacities like, in managerial roles for Absolution and The Kabuki Warriors, Asuka, and Kairi Sane. Also, she is often helmed as the best General Manager of SmackDown for the run that continued from April to December 2018.
Following her removal from WWE TV in 2019, Paige was never brought back in any live appearance capacity. Then last week, the multi-time WWE Divas Champion took to Twitter and posted a statement regarding her exit from the company. July 7 will officially mark her final day with the WWE.
