The Undertaker vs CM Punk from WrestleMania 29 is considered one of the best matches among all the WrestleMania matches of the Undertaker. If only there was no Shawn Michaels matches, this match would have topped the list. It was the last Wrestlemania match of CM Punk and it would be remembered as one of the best as well.

The storyline that the match followed was not very well received as CM Punk kept on mocking Paul Bearer throughout the feud, needless to say, Paul Bearer just passed away before this feud. Dave Meltzer even listed it as “Most Disgusting Promotional Tactic” of 2013. So there was not enough hope from this match.

But this amazing duo proved everyone wrong by presenting an amazing match. The former manager of CM Punk, Paul Heyman recently opened up about this amazing match and revealed some shocking facts about it. Speaking with the “Tetragrammaton” podcast, Heyman said;

“It had to be the right guy,” Heyman said. “When we were going with Punk vs. Undertaker, Paul Bearer had just passed away and we had done the way out of the box and way over the line story on television that we had laid out The Undertaker and then we poured out the ashes of Paul Bearer out of Undertaker’s urn onto Undertaker, which was just the heaviest thing we could think of doing.”

He continued, “I was like, ‘Okay, if there’s a guy that could be anointed as a top-tier star. If there’s someone that could become equal to Cena at this point in time… a clear 1 to 1A, that if we give Punk this victory, we’ve established someone for the next 20 years as a star.’ And I thought the case could be made for that.”
