Roman Reigns has become the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion in the WWE starting with Wrestlemania 38. He won the Winner Takes All Title Unification Match against Brock Lesnar in the main event of the Show of Shows to stay true to his God-mode shtick. His dominant form increased headache for the WWE creative team when it comes to finding out newer opponents.
Roman Reigns was supposed to headline Wrestlemania Backlash 2022 with a championship defense but that’s not the case. WWE set him up in a six-man tag team match at the Premium Live Event, instead. Following the recent altercation on Smackdown, many fans were expecting to see him defend his Universal Title against Drew McIntyre, but WWE is saving that match.

There are other fans who are expecting WWE to set up a fresh Roman Reigns vs. Shinsuke Nakamura feud as the two got physical in a segment, a few weeks ago. Nakamura seemingly challenged the champion during an episode of SmackDown as an aftermath of The Usos injuring his tag team partner Rick Boogs, but the storyline wasn’t dragged.
Roman Reigns Claims To Be Last Needle Mover In WWE
Roman Reigns Vs. Shinsuke Nakamura could happen later
Recent reports claim that although WWE has canceled the match, this could just be temporary. Ringside News shared some inside scoops about Roman Reigns vs. Shinsuke Nakamura that they learned from their sources. They were told that “Nakamura is there for us to hit when it’s time.”
A tenured member of the creative team reaffirmed that Nakamura’s match against Reigns, “won’t be a ‘stadium show,’” but he is “there for us to use with Roman when we need it.”
Interestingly, Shinsuke Nakamura hasn’t been featured on WWE television for the past few weeks. After getting a beatdown by The Usos in that same segment featuring Roman Reigns, he was taken off TV while she continued performing in house shows.
Rick Boogs’ injury is the prime reason why the former Intercontinental Champion can’t go after the tag team titles. Hence, this could be the time when WWE gives a solo push to the King of Strong Styles. Also, we haven’t seen him getting involved in top feuds for quite some time. Stepping against Roman Reigns could do the trick for him as he could expect to get back into the main event spotlight.
