During her two-year tenure with WWE NXT, Raquel Gonzalez has almost done everything in her power to cement her legacy as a top superstar. The NXT Women’s Championship has already been in her grasp and she was a strong babyface champion, so to speak. Dakota Kai won the NXT Women’s Tag Team titles with Gonzalez to become the inaugural champions.
The two eventually won the championships for the second time at NXT Stand & Deliver only to drop the belts within 24 hours. Many believe Raquel Gonzalez is due for the main roster call up which could be the main reason behind the title change. Recently a reliable source also hinted that the former multi-time champion could very well be on her way to the big league.
WWE NXT: 3 Championship Matches Announced For Next Week
During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed the recently bygone rematch for Raquel Gonzalez and Dakota Kai where they took on Toxic Attraction – Jacy Jayne and Gigi Dolin squared off. Meltzer noted how Jacy quickly chopped Raquel, and drop her with a spinning kick to pin her. The way of this loss perhaps was an indication that Gonzalez will soon be arriving on with Raw/Smackdown.
“Jacy quick chop blocked Raquel. And then pinned her after a spinning kick. And I had to think that Raquel is going up to the main roster soon. I don’t see why you would pin her, you know, I mean the situation is so quick.”
Raquel Gonzalez’s main roster debut has been delayed
For those who don’t know, Raquel Gonzalez’s life partner, Braun Strowman, a former WWE Superstar has been an advocate for her on the main roster for months. WWE Universe also thinks that she’s ready for the stint. So it seems to be just a matter of time before ‘Big Mami Cool’ shows up on Raw or SmackDown.
Previously on Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez discussed Raquel Gonzalez’s future. Alvarez noted that while the ex-champion was indeed set to jump ship to the main roster a short detour was waiting for her before the call-up.
WWE wanted to keep her in NXT because they need talents for the Dusty Rhodes Classic tag team tournament 2022 edition. Since that’s over, there’s not likely to be any creative hindrance in sending Raquel to the red or blue brand.
