WWE Smackdown: Raquel Rodriguez Of WWE NXT Officially Arrives On Main Roster

Raquel Gonzalez used to be a top talent of WWE NXT who would now be a Smackdown roster member under the name of Raquel Rodriguez. Over the past couple of years, she was a big part of NXT. Debuting as a monstrous heel superstar, she would proceed to become a natural babyface superstar with tons of potential.

Raquel Rodriguez did everything to impress the fans and it’s safe to say that she was able to do so in a big way. Now, after enjoying one more short stint as a tag team champion, she will now be seen in the big leagues under the blue brand. But then WWE introduced her to the roster with a name change which might have been a bit unnecessary.

During the post-Wrestlemania 38 Smackdown on FOX, Raquel Rodriguez made her debut by featuring in a backstage segment. She got interviewed by backstage interviewer Kayla Braxton and made her intentions clear about how she wants to rule Smackdown. The debut didn’t get very far without being interrupted as Los Latharios – Humberto and Angel welcomed her and tried to kiss her, but she stopped them.

Raquel Rodriguez was waiting for main roster debut

The segment ended with Raquel Rodriguez asking Kayla Braxton if they are always that annoying after they left. It’s not clear at this point whether it marked the first storyline for the former WWE NXT Women’s Champion but we expect her to see on Friday nights from now on. She is also a two-time WWE NXT Women’s tag team champion.

Raquel Rodriguez’s debut doesn’t come as a surprise as the debut rumors started roaming soon after Wrestlemania 38 went off the air. Also, she lost the women’s tag team titles on NXT, this week which indicated that her main roster call-up was evident.

In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer also discussed that he thinks Raquel Rodriguez was going up to the main roster soon. The original call-up was planned for January but it had to wait until Wrestlemania week to go over,

“Raquel Gonzalez has been talked about being moved to the main roster since January and her injury angle and then losing the women’s tag titles so quickly may mean her days in NXT were short.”
