A loophole situation was created on SmackDown especially for Roman Reigns by virtue of which he will be wrestling at Elimination Chamber but not inside the Chamber structure. The pay-per-view is coming with a very different set-up this year where the winner of the SmackDown Chamber match will become the number-one contender, and he will get his title shot later on in the night.
So Roman Reigns will actually have an advantage where he would get an already weary opponent. As reported by several sources the plan was to hold a Universal Title match in the Chamber, but the plans have been switched around. Thus, WWE has been mixing up the Chamber match rewards, this year. Plus, it seems a backstage pull could have saved the Big Dog from the cage structure.
Latest Update On WWE Hall Of Fame 2021 Ceremony
Ringside News previously reported about Roman Reigns having a tremendous backstage pull within the company. He is influential when it comes to his creative direction. He’s one of the very few superstars on the entire roster who actually has a say on which direction his ongoing angle will be moving into.
Shane McMahon Reportedly Wrestling A Match At WWE WrestleMania 37
When the source has asked why Roman Reigns isn’t competing inside the Elimination Chamber match, they were told, “They weren’t getting him in that chamber. No chance.”
Roman Reigns’ backstage pull kept him out of Elimination Chamber
The Elimination Chamber match does come up with a brutal environment. Although nowadays, the brutality elements have been toned down as they have taken away the metal grates and replaced them with padding, this match is still considered to be incredibly brutal for the participants.
The source was further told, “Everyone gets hurt in a match that people only watch to see injuries.” Roman Reigns apparently wanted to avoid that situation.
It’s unknown whether The Tribal Chief has started playing the role of a heel in real life or backstage, too as he previously competed and won such a Chamber match. Daniel Bryan even joked with Paul Heyman about him getting his master a “Brock Lesnar contract.” His deal isn’t that part-time, but he barely wrestles with the incredibly powerful pull, backstage.
Roman Reigns isn't in an Elimination Chamber match this year. We asked around and were told that there was no way WWE was getting him in that chamber. That unforgiving steel structure is no place for a Tribal Chief.

It should be noted how Roman Reigns has just recently scrapped a main roster call-up from NXT. He disagreed about Damian Priest debuting as Kevin Owens’ best friend and as a result, he’s now wrestling on SmackDown. The input that Roman brings is unique and the association with Paul Heyman deserves the credit behind the change, apparently.
