Earlier this year, reports broke out that WWE wanted to bring back a veteran named Melina. They reportedly had plans to use the former female roster member who wasn’t properly utilized in the past. While these reports got some of the fans excited, she hasn’t been seen on WWE TV, since then. Perhaps, there’s a valid reason why that return never happened.
During the PW Torch WWE TLC Preview show, Johnny Fairplay disclosed what WWE originally planned for Melina. He claims that she was supposed to come into NXT as a member of the Robert Stone Brand. But, obviously, those plans were scrapped.
“His plan was to bring in Melina and manage in NXT. She had to have surgery or something. They’re not using him.”
Reason Why Melina Never Returned To WWE Despite Rumors

At one point, there were some rumors that WWE could be wanting her to be a part of Raw where Asuka didn’t have some serious competition in the absence of other big names like Charlotte Flair or Becky Lynch. But the idea of seeing her on NXT especially with the Robert Stone Brand seems strange. Perhaps, we won’t have options to justify whether WWE did want to go that way.
We’ll have to see if Melina does come back at a different time. From the get-go of these rumors, she claimed that as much as she would love to have that comeback in WWE, that wasn’t happening. She was quite upset about hearing those baseless rumors that apparently was some dirt sheet just to get more clicks.
PWInsider was the source who apparently reported that former WWE Women’s Champion Melina has signed a deal with WWE. As per them, WWE officials were interested in bringing her back earlier this year, for the Women’s 2020 Royal Rumble match. But that wasn’t possible as she was under a contract with NWA at the end.

During his Hall Of Fame radio show, Booker T seemed more than excited to see Melina on WWE TV as he stated the following,
“I think the talent can definitely feed off of it. People can say what they want to say about the business, but some people bring it to life. Melina is one of those people that when she went out and performed, she brought it to life. When she was beating up those girls, you really felt the tension that was going down in the ring. It felt real. She was one of the best actors we had at that time. I say actors because that’s what we do – we go out and perform.”
