It’s been more than 4 years that former Divas Champion Paige had a match in the WWE. She hasn’t been involved in a storyline for over a couple of years which raises eyebrows around her fanbase that whether she’s under contract with the WWE in the first place. It appears that her status as a WWE Superstar is still intact.
Ringside News previously reported that a WWE creative staff informed them that there are no plans to bring her back to any of the shows despite the speculations. Still, Paige remains under a WWE contract, as of this writing. Dave Meltzer discussed her situation and the potential reason why she’s still with the company on the latest Wrestling Observer Live.

“She’s still employed, and I don’t know when they call her with an idea, then that’s what she does. When they don’t call her she doesn’t do a lot. Yeah, you know I can’t really give an answer [about why she hasn’t been released] it’s probably, you know who knows?” Meltzer informed about Paige’s current status with the WWE.
“It’s probably maybe they feel there’s value in her in appearances and as far as things like that that her name’s strong enough to keep her employed and worth it for the company and also the injury and the career-ending nature of it there might be some feelings on that as well.”

Paige still expected to make an in-ring return
Paige has been involved mostly in non-wrestling roles since she was forced to retire from the in-ring competition in April of 2018 due to a neck concussion. She went on to become the general manager of SmackDown in that year. She also contributed to WWE Backstage in 2019 as one of the regular attendees.
But Paige hasn’t appeared in person on camera since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in the early 2020s. She opted to stay in isolation in Los Angeles alongside her boyfriend, Ronnie Radke. Since that time till now, WWE has released several names from the roster as well as their HQ due to COVID-19 related budget cuts but the UK-native was able to retain her job.
Paige recently shared a photo of a movie poster for Fighting With My Family, produced by The Rock’s Seven Bucks Productions. She also included the Divas Title hanging on her wall alongside the pair of boots in the bottom of the frame. It was really interesting since she teased an in-ring return. As of now, there’s no update available on whether WWE plans to bring her back on TV in a wrestling role.
