Daniel Bryan has suddenly received a chance to win the Universal Championship and cement his spot at the WrestleMania 37 main event. He will challenge Roman Reigns for the title at FastLane 2021 after defeating Jey Uso inside a steel cage this past episode of SmackDown. Thus the Road to WrestleMania has become more interesting.
Originally, Edge was supposed to face Roman Reigns for the Universal Title in the main event of WrestleMania 37. But now the reigning champion will have to defeat Daniel Bryan, first to keep that match intact. This apparent roadblock was thrown by the WWE due to a couple of reasons and one of them is to keep a marquee match of Mania in jeopardy.
WWE Fastlane 2021: Huge Last Man Standing Match Coming Up
As per the recent reports, WWE Chairman Vince McMahon was irate on how WrestleMania 37 plans kept on leaking on the internet. The fact that Roman Reigns vs Edge was planned in a major WrestleMania encounter was out in the public much before it was officially announced at Elimination Chamber 2021. So WWE wanted to keep things uncertain around the match and Daniel Bryan entered the picture.
Also, it could be a way to keep Daniel Bryan relevant for perhaps one final time around WrestleMania as his deal with WWE is up in the upcoming months. He already hinted the same during the promo on SmackDown mentioning how this might be his last chance for him to go into the main event of WrestleMania.

Daniel Bryan won’t continue as a full-time WWE superstar
During an interview with BT Sport in December, the leader of the YES Nation admitted that even if he signs a future deal with the WWE, it won’t be for a full-time purpose. Hence, the main-eventer ta won’t be available for him, anyway.
“So now I am switching priorities in my life where for years wrestling has been the key focus. Like my contract is coming up soon, and we’re looking at me transitioning to maybe less than a full-time wrestler.
My time being a full-time wrestler are numbered. I’m going to be more like a full-time dad, part-time wrestler. Wrestling is my side job, daddy is my most important job.”
It should also be noted that Daniel Bryan vs Roman Reigns was the main event of the first edition of FastLane, six years ago. Back then, Bryan lost the opportunity and now going at it, again making it a full circle story. We have to wait until March 21 to witness whether he succeeds in his effort or not.
