WWE NXT has been airing on Wednesday nights (first on WWE Network and then on USA Network) over the years. It started getting some competition since the debut of AEW Dynamite on TNT Network starting from October 2019. Most of the time, AEW has been beating WWE’s show in terms of ratings and key demographics. This has been named the Wednesday Night War by the pro-wrestling fans.
Due to NHL games airing on USA Network on September 2nd and September 9th, WWE NXT was moved to September 1st and September 8th that is on Tuesday nights and it witnessed success as viewers increased.

The most recent 3 weeks when AEW and WWE NXT went head-to-head, NXT averaged 693,000 viewers whereas this past 3 weeks running unopposed, NXT has drawn 842,000 viewers, on average.
WWE NXT has aired without any competition from AEW Dynamite for the past three weeks and did relatively well. So it might be clear that NXT and AEW could benefit from running on different days without direct competition from one another.
Over the past month or so, discussions have transpired regarding NXT moving off Wednesday nights. No decision imminent, however, talks are ongoing. The numbers over the next 2 weeks might have some impact on this decision.

There have been buzzes from the Internet Wrestling Community about WWE NXT getting permanently moved to Tuesday nights. WrestleVotes is also reporting that the black and gold brand might be moving to Tuesday’s slot, permanently, going forward. Insider talks regarding the move are going on, and WWE will take the final decision after judging NXT’s performance on this upcoming edition of Tuesday and the upcoming one.
“Over the past month or so, discussions have transpired regarding NXT moving off Wednesday nights. No decision imminent, however, talks are ongoing. The numbers over the next 2 weeks might have some impact on this decision,” stated the source.
It’s being rumored that WWE officials aren’t opposing the idea, completely but the talks are still preliminary, at this stage. If the company does end up pulling the trigger then it will put an end to the Wednesday Night Wars with AEW Dynamite and some of the audience might not be forced to skip one of the shows.
