Professional wrestling legend and future WWE Hall of Famer William Regal who is a former four times WWE European champion recently talked about former WWE star Daniel Bryan who is currently going by the name of Bryan Danielson. He claimed that WWE never held him down.
Daniel Bryan was one of the biggest faces of WWE during his time. He came to WWE in 2009 as a part of the original NXT competition. He started his WWE journey as a member of the Nexus and in a very short amount of time he became one of the most famous wrestlers of WWE of his time.

William Regal Believes WWE Never Held Down Bryan Danielson
WWE was forced to push him as a consistent main event star by seeing his overwhelming popularity. He was added into the main event of WrestleMania XXX for his popularity even though he was not originally planned for it. There was a time when it seemed like WWE finally got their next face after John Cena. He was a wrestler with no haters apparently.
But WWE was determined to push Roman Reigns and Roman Reigns only. During the time fans were not ready to accept Roman Reigns as the face of WWE and they wanted Daniel Bryan as their next face. But the career threatening injury of Bryan stopped to the process and it became easier for WWE to build Roman Reigns as the face of the promotion.

Bryan did make his return to action in 2018 and he also won the WWE championship but WWE did not want to build him as the face of the promotion. After dropping the WWE title at WrestleMania 35, he could never win any world title in WWE. Finally, after losing to Roman Reigns, he decided to join AEW which was the Rival promotion of WWE.
William Regal who is a former four times WWE European champion recently spoke to Daily Star where he talked about former WWE star Daniel Bryan who is currently going by the name of Bryan Danielson. He claimed that WWE never held him down. He said;

“If you want to buy into that nonsense myth that people like to put out there – because it sounds like a good story – that he was held was held down in WWE, you are absolutely living in fairy land.
“If they didn’t want him to main event WrestleMania, he wouldn’t have main evented WrestleMania. The boss knew he had something special on his hands and he didn’t care about the narrative, he was going to see if he got there, and every test he gave him, he got there.”
