Revealed – Why Roman Reigns Pinned Braun Strowman Clean At Fastlane 1

Roman Reigns faced Braun Strowman at Fastlane which was a very anticipated match. Fans were speculating for this match since the push for Braun Strowman started. It is also said that this match was actually scheduled to take place at WrestleMania 33 but as Roman is given a go against the Undertaker at ‘the grandest stage of them all’, the match took place earlier.

Fans were really surprised to see Braun Strowman getting pinned by Roman Reigns clean in the middle of the ring. There were even rumors that the Undertaker might appear during the match to cost Roman the contest.

But no such thing happened. Most of the fans predicted a win for Braun Strowman. It was indeed very shocking to see Braun Strowman losing his winning streak just before WrestleMania. The decision was even criticized highly.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer recently revealed the actual reason behind this decision;

“Yes, you could have Strowman beat Reigns, absolutely, with the idea that if Reigns gets the title, you’ve got Strowman waiting as the top contender. But it’s just as valid from Vince McMahon’s standpoint to have the guy facing Undertaker win going into the match. Plus, Strowman went over in every angle. And, the match was booked to make Strowman look strong, and really Strowman put on a great performance, as did Reigns, and they really stole the show.”

So, it was quite clear that they allowed Roman Reigns to pick up the win to present him as a valid competitor against the Undertaker. Yes, if you think logically, the decision somehow seems right. This might be Undertaker’s retirement match and if he loses to the man who defeated Braun Strowman’s winning streak, it would really look legit. So, it seems the WWE has taken the right path.
