Professional wrestling legend and former three times WWE World Champion Rey Mysterio who is also a former three times WWE Cruiserweight champion recently talked about featuring on the cover of the recently released video game WWE 2K22. He said it is an honour for him to become the cover star of the mentioned video game.
The famous video game developer 2K took nearly three years to make the video game WWE 2K22. Their previous instalment on the mainstream WWE video game series which was the WWE 2K20 was a massive failure. It is being considered as the worst video game ever made based on professional wrestling.
Rey Mysterio Expresses His Happiness Of Being The Cover Star Of WWE 2K22
There were a lot of reasons behind the failure of the mentioned video game. The graphics was not upto the mark, it was quite weak by the standard of 2019, when the game got released. There was not enough improvements from the previous installments either. The biggest disappointment about the mentioned game was its glitches which made the game literally unplayable.
It was really difficult for the video game developers to recover from this huge criticism. The Gamers wanted WWE to take the right away from 2K. But WWE decided to give them one last chance. And here it is, the much awaited WWE 2K22 has been finally released after three years of patience.
The game is definitely better than they are last instalment and it has brought back one of the most famous features from the previous WWE video games when they were made by THQ; the General Manager mode. This engaging game mode was last used in the WWE Smackdown vs RAW 2008 which got released in 2007. So it was definitely a good thing about WWE 2K22. Overall the game is good but it is not the best wrestling video game ever.
Rey Mysterio who is also a former three times WWE Cruiserweight champion recently spoke to Complex where he talked about featuring on the cover of the recently released video game WWE 2K22. He said;
“So WWE first approached me in regards to doing some promotional work for the game. And I guess I didn’t understand it right off the bat? But I swear they didn’t tell me that I was going to be on the cover of the game, or that it was going to be based around me.
“But slowly, as I was shooting and doing promotions, the bomb just hit, and they were like, ‘You know, this is based on you. You are the cover of the game this year.’ I was like, ‘Oh no way. Damn, that’s cool. That’s dope.’
“I’ve been a part of covers with other Superstars, but I’ve never been the face of a video game. So, you know, it’s an honor, a complete honor. And it’s a blessing to be in this industry for almost 32 years and have a showcase around me.”
