Last Sunday at WrestleMania 37 night 2, Rhea Ripley not only defeated Asuka to become the new WWE Raw Women’s Champion, she completely dominated her. By this match, WWE has made the intention pretty clear; they are building Rhea Ripley as an unstoppable force.
Asuka, a three times WWE Women’s Champion has never been dominated like this in her entire career. Only Rhea Ripley was able to get such a booking. So, it is quite clear that Rhea is here to get an instant main event run and for a long time.
Rhea Ripley Thought His WrestleMania Match Could Be Triple Threat
At such a young age, Rhea has earned a lot of fans. Fans are already rooting her to be the perfect replacement of Paige aka Brittany Knight.
Before WrestleMania 37, Ripley talked to WrestleTalk TV where she said that she was expecting Charlotte Flair to get involved in her Women’s Championship match, even though, that did not happen. She said;
“Yeah, I was expecting something like that to happen, but it hasn’t,” Rhea said. “I hope that everything in Charlotte’s life is doing great. I hope that she’s mentally good and physically good. I don’t really know what’s going on with all of that, but I am very excited to step in the ring with Asuka.
“If Charlotte got added to the match like I wouldn’t complain. I think it would still be an amazing match, and it would be a lot of fun and hopefully, I could get some payback for last year.”
“Since I’m only stepping into the ring with Asuka, I’m still super excited because she’s someone that I’ve wanted to wrestle with for a long long time,” Rhea said. “I actually saw a match of hers in Japan when I was there at 17-years-old, we were on the same show, and I remember just like watching her and I’m like, ‘She’s amazing, this chick is crazy and badass and just amazing, you know, just fully amazing’.
“Then it’s funny to come full circle and now I get to wrestle her at WrestleMania, so it’s definitely a dream match of mine, and I’ve very very glad that it’s coming true.”
Last year, a lot of fans did not like the way Ripley was beaten by Charlotte Flair. We hope she will be given the perfect treatment now. Ripley feuding with Becky Lynch would be amazing to see as well. Now, let us see how long do we have to wait for that.
