Rhea Ripley is off to a solid start on the main roster upon her debut. A very few can proudly say that her first match on the big league would take place at the grandest stage of them all. As of now, she is on her way to the biggest match of her career at WrestleMania 37 when she faces Asuka with the Raw Women’s Championship in a singles contest. The match can certainly change given how WWE is changing things at a fast rate, these days.
With Wrestlemania 37 on the verge, a lot is going on, backstage in WWE and anything is subjected to change, at this point. Even Rhea Ripley’s debut was changed to a big extent. Ringside News has learned that Ripley vs Asuka was not the original plan for the Biggest Event of the Year. WWE had other plans in mind for the former NXT Women’s Champion. But they were forced to announce this match in the absence of qualified challengers for Asuka on Raw.
It seems that WWE was moving for Asuka to defend the Raw Women’s Title against Charlotte Flair at the Show of Shows. The Queen had even called out Asuka in a promo. But then Charlotte tested positive for COVID-19 and WWE had to take her off TV for obvious reasons.
Will Stone Cold Steve Austin Be A Part Of WWE Wrestlemania 37?
The expectation is that Charlotte Flair will be back in time for a WrestleMania match build. Rumors were there that WWE could perhaps send her to SmackDown to make that happen. However, there’s a chance that she appears on Raw to announce a Triple Threat for Wrestlemania 37 also featuring Rhea Ripley and Asuka.
Rhea Ripley could be a heel on Raw
According to previous reports from PW Insider, WWE’s goal was to make Rhea Riley a heel upon her main roster debut. It would have made sense since Asuka is playing the role of a babyface. But that wasn’t the case, at least on Rhea’s first night. Perhaps, WWE could execute the plan around her in the coming weeks.
Originally, Rhea Ripley made her main roster debut during the 2021 Royal Rumble where she was the last name to be eliminated from the match by Bianca Belair. Since that appearance, she was kept off TV until WWE started airing some vignettes around her arrival on Raw. Now, she is targeting to win the Raw Women’s Title marking her second straight title match appearance at Wrestlemania.
