After this match both wrestlers departed from WWE and remained out of the promotion for quite a long time. Brock Lesnar made his return to WWE back in 2012 where is Goldberg state out of WWE till 2016. His first spell in WWE lasted for one year only and this one year he had been phenomenal.
After nearly thirteen years, Goldberg first appeared in WWE video game which was WWE 2K17, even though he was only available on pre order. By that time WWE was able to sign him on a professional contract.
At Survivor Series of 2016, he fought the same opponent he faced before departing from Professional wrestling, Brock Lesnar. He squashed Brock Lesnar in a shocking one minute and twenty six seconds time to shock the entire world. The very next year he won the WWE Universal Heavyweight Championship and walked into Wrestlemania 33 as the champion and defended the title against Brock Lesnar.
He won the WWE Universal Heavyweight Championship one more time after three years in 2020 at the super showdown pay per view event which took place in Saudi Arabia. He defeated the Fiend Bray Wyatt to win his 2nd WWE Universal Heavyweight Championship.

He still has one more that is left in his contract which is going to take place at Elimination Chamber against Roman Reigns for the WWE Uniersal Heavyweight Championship. It is rumored that he would sign an extension soon.
Ric Flair who is the sixteen times former World champion recently spoke on his WOOOOO Nation Uncensored podcast where he talked about the return of WWE Hall of famer Goldberg in 2016. He gave his honest opinion on the former three times World Champion Since his return. He said;
“Bill’s look was so awesome and it was just at the right time. He came out, he was different from everybody, his music, his entrance, but the fans were conditioned to know they were going to see something that was action packed with Bill, whether it was 10 seconds or 10 minutes, something big was going to happen.”

“I was kind of involved in that because Vince asked me if I thought Bill could succeed up there and I said most definitely. I don’t think his first run was as good as this last run. He took time off. When he came the last time, Shawn, Hunter, myself, Dave (Batista), the first time, they had a ton of guys to feed Bill. I probably wrestled Bill more times in WWE when I was in my 50s than I did in the ‘90s in WCW. We all fed Bill, but it was a pleasure to do it. Bill was a good guy.”
“I think he left on not that good of terms the first time, but he came back this time. The guys that made a name for themselves that mean something, 10 years after they’ve been removed and can go back and mean something, those are the guys that are special and the fans should recognize that. Whether they like their work, whether they’re critical of it or not, they deserve it and Bill has made himself worth it every time he’s come back.”
“He drew money. Five star matches mean nothing if you’re not drawing money. We’ve seen a lot of five star matches that don’t draw money.”
