The 16 times World Champion Ric Flair recently reminded of the dying days of the World Championship Wrestling. There were a lot of terrible decisions made by the WCW that led the company to its death.
After Vince Russo left WWE to join WCW, a lot of fans believe that WWE was saved because of this. Fans and critics also count Vince Russo as the biggest antagonist who was responsible for the death of the World Championship Wrestling.
Ric Flair Says Eric Bischoff and Vince Russo Almost Killed His Legacy In WCW
The worst decision was taken by Vince Russo that is believed by the most of the fans Crowning David Arquette as the WCW World Heavyweight Champion. According to a lot of fans and critics, this reason was enough to kill the World Championship Wrestling forever.
Ric Flair recently spoke with Conrad Thompson where the Nature Boy claimed that Vince Russo and Eric Bischoff almost killed The Legacy of him during his WCW days. He revealed the full story how it almost happened;
It’s funny, the next day I got a call from Jim Ross. He was obviously on a car phone. He said, ‘You ready to go to work?’ And I said, ‘Yeah man’ and then I never heard from him for a year. Not quite a year but not ‘till November, right? Or September. Happiest day of my life. Without that day — I just told Ariel [Helwani] that on his podcast. Without that day, without me going back there [WWE/F], my legacy was dead. [Vince] Russo and [Eric] Bischoff had killed my legacy. You’ll never convince me. I cannot think of one thing they did for me that sent me into the Hall Of Fame for WWE, can you?
The time was really bad for the World Championship Wrestling, that having such amazing talents such as the Nature Boy Ric Flair, Sting, Hulk Hogan, the whole nWo, Diamond Dallas Page, Goldberg at the same time could not save the promotion. Bad booking can definitely kill a show completely. This is a big reason why WWE should focus on making good stories for the main roster.
