Roman Reigns is undoubtedly enjoying the best run of his entire career, at the moment and he reached yet another milestone. As of 30th August, he completed 365 days as a champion. On the occasion, he took to Twitter and ordered the WWE Universe to celebrate him, “365 days as Your Universal Heavyweight Champion… #CelebrateMe.”
Roman Reigns was on a hiatus since March of 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic who also missed Wrestlemania 36. He returned at Summerslam of that year by destroying “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman following Wyatt’s title win. Just a week later at WWE Payback PPV, he defeated the two of them on August 30, 2020, in a No Holds Barred Triple Threat to become the Universal Champion.

This is Roman Reigns’ longest title reign in his WWE career under The Tribal Chief gimmick. He retained his title over John Cena at WWE SummerSlam 2021 earlier this month while he’s scheduled to defend the title against Finn Balor on this week’s SmackDown. The longest five Universal title reigns in the history of the WWE are as follows,
5. Braun Strowman (141 days)
4. Brock Lesnar (156 days)
3. Kevin Owens (188 days)
2. Roman Reigns (365+ days)
1. Brock Lesnar (504 days)

Paul Heyman commented on Roman Reigns’ accomplishment
It should also be noted that Roman Reigns’ Universal Title win at Payback also marked the one year since Paul Heyman aligned himself with him. On social media, Heyman noted that Reigns “rescued” him when the two started working together. Check out Heyman’s statement,
“EXACTLY 1 YEAR AGO, I was rescued by @wweromanreigns. In the 52 weeks that have transpired since then, the #TribalChief has redefined the medium, disrupted the status quo and titled the axis of what it means to be THEE top superstar in @WWE…and we’ve only just begun!”

This statement coming from Heyman is pretty interesting since his other client Brock Lesnar has just returned at SummerSlam 2021 to confront Roman Reigns. Since then The Usos are claiming that Heyman had clues about that return while Heyman’s reaction at the PPV was that of shock and worry as Lesnar seems to be targeting the Universal Championship. The two are likely to collide over the title at the Crown Jewel PPV event.
