After remaining absent from WWE programming for a long time, a couple of years ago, Roman Reigns debuted a new character. He previously used to be the top babyface figure of the roster but this new one was completely opposite where people would consider him the top villain of the company.
This eventually led to the dominant title reign as the reigning Universal Champion which has been ongoing for the past two years. Roman Reigns’ current Tribal Chief character has been built to receive boos from the audience and he wants it to stay that way. People do cheer for his larger-than-life persona but that doesn’t mean that she would like to go back to his previous character.
Wrestlemania 39: WWE Facing Critical Booking Problems With Roman Reigns
There are new reports available suggesting that Roman Reigns is expected to hang onto his titles for the rest of 2022 and he could possibly transition into a babyface role. While the former speculation could be true, there’s no way that any character alteration is reserved for him in the near future.

Roman Reigns’ on-screen character not changing
Ringside News was told by their source that Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman “refuse” to let The Head of the Table character fall into any babyface category. Down the road, the longest-reigning WWE Universal Champion will only be classified as a villain, and that’s how they wanted it to stay.
A tenured member of the creative team confirmed that Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman always make sure that some of the phrases like The Tribal Chief carrying the company would be too heavy for him,
“They both are always telling writers “the character is the champion, the top attraction, the WrestleMania main event, the one who everyone relies on.” They always use the word “burden” as in “the burden the top attraction feels at all times.”
It was also noted that “any reports that Vince or HHH see Roman as a babyface are incorrect.” Roman Reigns will continue to stay as a heel superstar who will likely be holding the belts until WrestleMania, at least. Nothing more was specified regarding the end of the title run in the report.
